Adding Seriously Simple Podcasting to the PodcastMotor Family

Today I’m very excited to share some news with everyone. Last week we at PodcastMotor were fortunate enough to acquire the Seriously Simple Podcasting WordPress plugin.

For those of you who are not already users of the plugin, Seriously Simple Podcasting allows WordPress users with a ‘seriously’ straight forward way of setting their site up for launching a podcast. In true WordPress plugin fashion, SSP achieves all of this without hijacking any of the functionality from your WordPress theme, and doesn’t rely on any external dependencies as a result.

What you’re left with is a quick way to add all the best functionality of WordPress right to your existing site.

As many of you know in the middle of 2016 we released two other WordPress related products, the ProCaster WordPress theme, and the PodcastMotor Player WordPress Plugin. So the logical question may now be “What does this addition to the PodcastMotor family mean to those existing products?”.

The short answer is the it is all entirely additive. The beauty of now having a full portfolio of tools for WordPress users is really stunning. Now if you want to set up your site (new or existing one) to work with your podcast we’re giving you 3 ways to do that.

The ProCaster theme is not only a beautiful theme with all of the styling and customizable functionality you’d expect from a premium WordPress theme, but also has built in support for podcasting. If you’re starting a new show (and new website) from scratch, this is a great way to go.

The PodcastMotor player is a great tool to add to your site to display a beautiful (and powerful) podcast player along with each episode’s blog post. With built in email capture function and integrations with your favorite email service providers (Drip, Aweber, Mailchimp, and ConvertKit), the PodcastMotor player isn’t just nice to look at, it also allows you to gather emails from your listeners, and continue that discussion with them after the podcast is over.

Seriously Simple Podcasting is a great way to add all of the functionality that we built into the ProCaster theme in a plugin form. So if you’ve already got your site built, or are just happy with a theme you’ve previously selected, then no need to compromise on the look/feel of your site just to add podcasting functionality.

Seriously Simple Podcasting also has adopted the popular add-on module that is seen with several successful WordPress plugins. Namely there are:

As you can see, these add-on modules create a really great suite of products that allow you to build a very powerful, and great looking website for your podcast.

As we look at the current landscape of podcasting tools, I have to say that I’m very proud of the steps we at PodcastMotor have taken to create useful, interesting, and powerful tools for podcasters, that are easy to use. We all have enough complicated things in our lives, and our goal is to create solutions that are obvious, elegant, and powerful for our users….without an advanced degree in Computer Science to understand them.

As for the future of our podcasting products, well we’re really leaving that up to you. We talk to a lot of podcasters as part of our podcast editing and production services, and ‘think’ we’ve got a good feel for what everyone needs, but I’d love to hear from you directly.

What are you missing in the podcasting world?

What itch isn’t getting scratched these days by the existing tools and solutions?

If you’re already a Seriously Simple Podcasting user what things would you like to see added in future versions?

Leave a comment below with your experiences with Seriously Simple Podcasting, and how you’re using WordPress to manage your podcast.  I very much look forward to hearing from everyone.
